PsychoLinguistics in the South East
PsychoLinguistics in the South East (PsyLingSE) is a network of psycholinguistics researchers working in the South East of England. The network links researchers from a number of Universities and a variety disciplines (e.g. Psychology, Linguistics, Cognitive Neuroscience), who share a common interest in studying language processing.
The main aim of PsyLingSE is to improve our knowledge of ongoing research in the neighbouring areas and to encourage interdisciplinary interactions and collaborations between the various Universities involved. We also aim to bring together PhD students, RAs, Postdocs and academics in a friendly and stimulating environment.
What is PsyLingSE?
PsyLingSE meetings
The PsyLingSE network will meet once a year for a one-day workshop, hosted by the different institutions in turn. Students, RAs, postdocs and academics will be invited to present current work or even future plans for research/ opportunities for collaboration in an informal ‘local’ setting. We hope that this will provide a great outlet for discussing new research and initiate plans for collaborative projects.
So far we have had a great response from researchers in Kent, London, Sussex, Cambridge and Essex and have set a date for our second meeting (see ‘Upcoming meetings’ link above). In terms of finances to support the meetings, it will be kept as a very low budget operation, with attendees paying their own transport costs (and given the local nature of the scheme, travel times shouldn’t be more than an hour or two), and the host institution simply providing coffees/ teas and a sandwich/ buffet lunch. We will apply for funds to support these meetings, with the hope that some travel and food costs for attendees will be subsidised for future meetings.
If you would like to join the PsyLingSE network and receive emails about upcoming meetings, job adverts, opportunities for collaboration etc, then please email Heather Ferguson to join our mailing list. Note: this will be a low-volume email list.
